Israel always has been and still is, the apple of God’s Eye. God said, “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you” (Genesis 12:3 NKJV). Jews and Christians are united in the fact that we serve the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God chose Abraham, but much more than that, Abraham was God’s friend. “But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend” (Isaiah 41:8 KJV). I have often said anyone who is not a friend of Israel is not a friend of God!
Abraham had his hardships. His son Isaac went through difficulties. Isaac’s son Jacob literally struggled from birth to the grave. Moses saw the terrible plight of the Israel’s offspring in Goshen – and God used Moses and Joshua to lead Israel to the part of this planet that God set aside for His chosen people. “In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:”(Genesis 15:18 kjv), “From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast”(Joshua 1:4 KJV).
The fact is Israel did not get their land from Babylon, Britain, or the United Nations. King David said, “The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness”(Psalm 24:1 NKJV). Israel’s land was given to them by GOD, and the Bible says, “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever” (Isaiah 40:8 NKJV).
The powers of evil hate what God loves. Evil has always tried to destroy what God loves! Only during the time of King Solomon’s reign has Israel NOT had a struggle for peace and safety. Just to name a few, the Roman occupation, the Crusades, the Spanish inquisition, the Nazi Holocaust. Israel has constantly struggled as a people and as a nation.
Today Israel, the one beacon of democracy in the Middle East, is surround by nations that want to eliminate Israel. Iran makes no bones about the fact that its greatest goal is to eliminate the State of Israel. The Iranian commander has boasted: “We can destroy Israel in under 8 minutes.” Not long ago the Islamic Republic’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said, “there is no doubt’ we’ll witness Israel’s demise.”
Israel is also under a continual threat from Hamas, Hezbollah, ISIS, and Al Qaeda. But God made Abraham a promise in Genesis 17:5-8, “No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you. And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.”
God keeps His promises!
