True Peace

True Peace
by David Marquard

One of the most elusive things to mankind is peace. Throughout the centuries, man has sought the secret of finding peace. The peace I speak of is the peace within the human soul. So often we travel throughout our lives seeking and longing for, but never finding, the true peace that only God can give.

Our hearts wrestle. Our minds struggle. Our souls are troubled. We chant mantras, take drugs, seek after self-help gurus, and try many other things all in an attempt to find peace. All too often the one place we fail to look is the Eternal God who created us, the God of peace (Romans 15:33). Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you” (John14:27 NKJV). When we turn to and receive Him, then the peace that only He can bring will come to us.

This world offers nothing but heartache. It makes great promises and continually fails to deliver. If you long for a life of peace, if you desire to be at rest even when there are troubles all around you, then Jesus is your answer. When He encouraged us, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27 NKJV), He provided the way to this in Himself. The God of peace is knocking on the door of your heart. What are you waiting for?!
