We would be naive not to acknowledge the erosion of Christian values and influence in today’s society. The conflict between anti-Christian views and a biblical worldview (seeing God and life through the lens of Scripture) is more evident than ever. The influential institutions of government, education, media, and entertainment industry are they themselves being influenced by a surge of spiritual darkness.
We—the church—are positioned and commissioned with an opportunity to hold back the tide of an ungodly agenda. Jesus said, “You are the salt of the earth…You are the light of the world”. We’re assigned to be influencers in the world—and specifically—our own sphere of influence. God has put His powerful Spirit within us so we can reflect His image and glory. That’s His agenda for us.
We fulfill this by living a truly godly life in your home. Your children will be influenced by your example. Stand for righteousness in your workplace. Your coworkers are observing you closer than you realize.. Be the spiritual salt and light in your community. Let your words and actions become agents of change. Let it be your visible agenda.
No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
-Matt. 5:15-16 NLT
