There was a guy who used to live across the road from me who was a nice guy, but he had this dog. It was a mix breed, and the dogs name was Charley. But what I called him was usually never complimentary.
Charley was a pest of the first order. I’ve even warned our dog at the time about the bad influence of Charley. Charley’s chief gift and virtue was the community garbage inspector.
My neighbors know me quite well, because they have seen me on television, and they know that I am a Pastor. Now I keep my garbage at the side of the house to put out on Thursday mornings.
Many times when I went out to get the garbage early on Thursday morning that rascal Charley had strewed my garbage all over my yard, the neighbors yard, and out on road!
At that moment, I always had a few choice words that came to mind about Charley. Rotten, despicable, contemptible, base, vial, evil, debauched, depraved, completely reprobate. So here I go the first thing in the morning with polyethylene bag, picking up my garbage from my neighbors yard.
I always knew the neighbors were watching me out of their windows and they know I preach the Love Of God. But if they ever knew what I was thinking at that moment they would have seen a different side of me.
I was thinking, “If I wasn’t such a lovable, patient, Christ like, compassionate, longsuffering, understanding, exemplary type of guy – I’d shoot that dog right between the eyes.”
Some of you may believe that when Dogs die they go to heaven. Well a few years ago Charley died, and I know he went in the opposite of heaven!
I’ve come to the conclusion every neighborhood has a Charley, and there are Charley’s in some churches. Charley wants to expose all your garbage
The bible calls Charley’s, “The accuser of the brethren.” The bible says, “Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down” (Revelation 12:10 nkjv).
Satan maintains a 24 hour lobby before God to tell him all that you’ve done wrong every day. He’s always pointing a finger. Some people find fault like there’s a reward for it!
On the other hand the Bible says, “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 john 2:1 nkjv). Satan is the ACCUSER, and Jesus is the ADVOCATE. So the next time you are about to open your mouth about someone else’s failure, or point a critical finger ask yourself who’s end of the rope are you pulling on the Advocate or the accuser?
